Where is the CyberPool?

The CyberPool is located just inside the entrance to the Trove, directly off the Tree Trail Gallery. As the Trove's technology center, the CyberPool is complete with 14 computers for children K-6th grade, free access to games, word processing, the Internet, online tutors and learning services.

Who may use the CyberPool?

Children up through 6th grade may use the CyberPool computers, one person per computer. Those under the age of eight need a grownup to be with them in the CyberPool. Anyone who is in the 7th grade and older must use the CyberSpot in the Adult Services Department.

What can I do in the CyberPool?

The computers in the CyberPool have Internet access and word processing. Also available are also lots of games for learning and fun, including, Backyard Baseball, checkers, Harry Potter, I Spy, Jumpstart Kindergarten, Living Books, Magic School Bus, Mighty Math, Pinball, Reader Rabbit, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Rugrats, Wiggle Bay, and more!

  • Online Tutor @ whiteplainslibrary.org – An online tutor resource to help you with your homework. Help in Spanish is also available at scheduled times. 
  • The Library's Databases – Include resources for kids such as Ebsco Animals (a database consisting of information on and images of animals); the online encyclopedia, the New Book of Knowledge, (which is geared for students through 6th grade); and primary Search (a database of children's magazine articles.
  • Our list of suggested Web sites – A variety of sites that are useful for homework assignment and are also lots of fun.
  • Read interactive eBooks online!

You can print pages from the Internet, or from the word processing program. You can save items to a disk. Disks may be purchased on the first floor of the Library at the Circulation Desk. You cannot use your own software, or use email or chat. However, you can listen to library CDs or DVDs.

How do I sign up?

To make an appointment on the computers, you will have to bring your library card and go to the CyberPool. Sessions last for one hour, and you may use the computers twice a day. You may also make a reservation up to a week in advance.

When can I use the CyberPool?

The CyberPool computers can be used at anytime during the Library's day and evening hours. Please note that the computers automatically shut down fifteen minutes before the Library's closing hour.
